SpaRing's first gym — third floor of YMCA Chittoor Road, behind Shenoys Theatre. Six disciplines, six days a week: boxing, kickboxing, MMA, SAMBO, wrestling and grappling. Walk in, watch a class, train one for free.
We opened the YMCA hall in 2013 with a couple of heavy bags, a borrowed mat and a small group of regulars. Twelve years on, this third-floor space is still the busiest of our three branches — and the only place in Ernakulam running SAMBO classes every week.
If you live or work anywhere between Marine Drive, MG Road, Kaloor or Edappally, this is your closest place in Kochi to learn boxing, kickboxing, MMA, wrestling, grappling or SAMBO. The same coaches handle complete beginners and competition fighters — you start in a beginner batch, the coach moves you up when you're ready.
The address is 3rd Floor, YMCA, Chittoor Road, behind Shenoys Theatre. Walk in any time during opening hours and someone will show you around. The lift is on the right of the YMCA entrance; if it's slow, the stairs are quicker.

Striking, grappling and mixed martial arts — six disciplines on the same floor. Beginners and competition fighters share the room but never the same drills. Each discipline has its own batch and its own coach.

Stance, footwork and the basic punches first. Padwork and controlled sparring once your defence holds up.
Boxing programme →
Kicks layered onto boxing fundamentals — round kicks, push kicks, knees. Heavy on conditioning; the workout people remember.
Kickboxing programme →
Striking, clinch and ground treated as one sport — not three taped together. We expect a base in two disciplines before you join MMA full-time.
MMA programme →
The Russian grappling system — throws, leglocks, fast pace. Run consistently only at this branch; we're one of very few centres in South India teaching it weekly.
SAMBO programme →
Single-legs, double-legs, takedown defence and top control. The base for MMA and grappling both — and a workout in itself.
Wrestling programme →
No-gi: takedowns, escapes, submissions. Most sessions end with rolling — once you've been shown enough to do it safely.
Grappling programme →Most disciplines run twice a day — early morning before work and again in the evening. Saturday is lighter (open mat and technique). Sunday is a rest day. Drop us a message before your first class and we'll point you to the right batch.
There's only so much a website can tell you. Pick a discipline, message us, train one class. If it fits, you join. If it doesn't, no fees, no follow-up calls.
